This is a very short tutorial in saving Monika. This is also the only known way in saving her. Before doing this, backup your file. There is a slight chance you’ll lose your progress or corrupt the game file.

Monika’s “.chr” file Decoded: After opening Monika’s “.chr” file, I noticed it looked like an image file. So I renamed the file extension to “.png” and got the image below. The image resembles a ring of fire with some form of QR code in the middle, however this was not a QR code.

These will be the things you’ll need in order to save Monika… and the Literature Club.

  • Steam
  • Flashdrive (USB)
  • Depression
  • Monika

Steps

First Step

Go to your Steam Games and right click Doki Doki Literature Club. After that, click Properties.

Second Step

Once you’ve clicked Properties, go to the Local Files section and click Browse Local Files. It will then open up your DDLC’s file location.

Third Step

Once you’re at the DDLC’s file location, you’ll need to open up the Characters folder…

Fourth Step

In the Characters folder, right click Monika.chr and press Copy. After this, locate your Flashdrive’s folder (be sure that you’ve plugged in your USB).

Fifth Step

Once you’re at your Flashdrive’s folder, press right click, and then Paste…

Final Step

Just unplug the Flashdrive and… Congratulations! You’re finally done. Now you can live your life with Monika. Bring her along on a date, make out, or even play DDLC together. The options are limitless, except for swimming… and baths… or anything water related.

Who is your favorite Doki Doki character? Sayori, Monika, Yuri, or Natsuki? Let’s look at each of them in details.

Sayori. She used to be a great, positive girl until she fell in love with the main character. After her confession, she started to write depressive poems. Her depression was only increasing. Eventually, she ended her life by committing suicide. She really wanted a lead character to be happy, even with others, but felt jealous. Unfortunately, we see her just in the 1st and 4th acts, while she hanged herself and the players could not see her for a while.

Monika. That is a very skeptical and unusual President of the Club. When playing, you understand that she has her self-consciousness, and she leads to errors in game, breaking it. You can’t write poems for her until the 3rd Act.

Yuri. She is a real bookworm, although very romantic. She is a Vice-President of the literature club. She is one of those you are able to write poems for. Her favorite color is purple, even her hair is purple.

Monika Chr File

Natsuki. A “pink” girl, having pink eyes and pink hair. She is the youngest of four girls. Her inner world is beautiful and soft, and her personality is arrogant. This girl is very caring, especially of other girls. However, she is very lonely and desperate.
